Eugene "Gene" Keith Franklin

Eugene “Gene” Keith Franklin, 84, of Raleigh NC, suddenly and peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, surrounded by family. Gene was born to the late Henry Bland “Buster” Franklin and late Mary “Wava” Franklin on July 7, 1937, in Raleigh NC.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Hilda Franklin. He also leaves behind his brother David Franklin and his sister-in-law Theresa Franklin, his son Brian Franklin and daughter-in-law Fernanda Franklin, his daughter Karen Carter, his grandsons Caleb Franklin, Jared Carter, and Gabriel Floresta, his granddaughters Rachel Franklin and Marie Carter, and many extended family members and friends.

Gene graduated from Cary High School and Wake Forest University. After almost 40 years, he retired from the NC DOT. He spent many years as an active member of Ephesus Baptist Church, the Cary IMP Club, and the Exchange Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid Wake Forest fan.

Family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 29th from 1-2 pm at Ephesus Baptist Church. Funeral Services will begin at 2 pm at the church, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. A Reception will be held back at Mitchell Funeral Home after the graveside service.
