He was predeceased by his wife, Bette, of 49 years; his brother, Paul; and nephew, Bennett.
He is survived by his nephews and a niece: Bob (Debbie) McRackan of Raleigh, NC, Walter (Deena) McRackan of Charleston, SC and Bennett (deceased) and his wife, Debbie, of Charleston, SC and Betsy Thompson, Jacksonville, FL.; 4 great nephews; 1 great niece; and 20 great-great nieces and nephews.
Mac was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for Southern Bell/ AT&T for over 50 years. He volunteered at WakeMed Hospital, Rex Hospital and Meals on Wheels, for many years. He was an avid cyclist throughout his life.
Funeral services will be a graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612, on Monday, February 26th at 3:00 pm.
