Frank was a true gentleman and a wonderful person to know and a joy be around.  He definitely was one whose glass was always at least half full.  
Among other attributes he was an excellent wood worker.  He always paid attention to details and was willing to help and make suggestions.
I will truly miss him and the lunches we shared.

I am saddened to have learned that Frank Mansfield had passed. I still remember the first time I met Frank in 1958 when I joined Troop 10 at Edenton Street Methodist Church.  He was a great leader and mentor and I am proud to be one of his Eagle Scouts.  My life's work and several of my hobbies are a result of my relationship with Frank.  I was a scout adult leader for many years in NC and Texas until my son became an Eagle Scout. We have stayed in touch over the years and I last visited with him a couple of years ago and enjoyed talking about his service as a marine during World War II, seeing his train layout and all of the various vehicles he had build from wood.  He will be remembered as a great person and I am proud to call him my friend.

Frank lived his life according to Jesus' teachings.  No matter who you were, Frank took time to talk with you.  He loved all people of every age.  He had that special ability to connect with the younger generation.  I got to know him in the Fellowship Club.  If you missed a meeting, he would call you when he returned home to check on you.  He sent out birthday cards until his health declined.  If he missed a birthday, he would call you on your birthday and wish you a good day and apologize for not sending a card.  He was always visiting the shut ins.  He built the wooden stand that holds the American flag in our Fellowship Hall.  Frank loved God, his country, his family, and friends.  We learned a lot from Frank and hopefully we can honor him by carrying on his traditions.  Rest in eternal peace, Frank.

I attended Louisburg College with Fran Mansfield. Frank got me my first job in Raleigh at Dillon Supply.  I regret not keeping up with him as it had been years since I had seen him.  You will forever be at the controls of Trails End Station.

Frank lived his life according to the Boy Scout promise, duty to God and country, duty to others and duty to self. He was a role model to hundreds of boys who went through Troop 10 at Edenton Street Methodist Church.  He was my role model as a Scout Master in four different Scout troops. I visited Frank frequently, the last time being 2 weeks ago when we reminisced about our experiences in Scouting.  I have known Frank for 65 years and he has been a life long friend.  I will miss him.

Frank lived his life according to the Boy Scout promise, duty to God and country, duty to others, duty to self.  He was a role model for all of us, especially young boys.  As a Scout Master with 4 different Scout troops I modeled them all after Frank's leadership at Troop 10 at Edenton Street Methodist Church.  I'm so glad I got to visit with him two weeks ago and marveled how he enjoyed reminiscing.  I will miss him.

Wish I had known Frank much earlier, not only in the Tar Heel Detachment, #733, Marine Corps League, but as an engaging and friendly individual with a heart of gold, an 'experienced' sense of humor and a generally congenial, thoughtful and loyal Marine!
Accordingly, per the Marines Hymn, he's now in the hands of the Supreme 
Commandant, guarding the streets of heaven!

Rest In Peace, Frank.  Thank you for the impact you had with all the boys in Scouting.

Frank was a good man and a great Scoutmaster. I will always remember his leadership in Scouting at Edenton St. Methodist Church. His commitment to the Scouting program was extraordinary and touched the lives of many Scouts.

My Scoutmaster, who through his deeds and actions, taught me to be a Scoutmaster, and like him, I too am an Eagle Scout, thanks primarily to his deeds and actions.  Gifted with his hands and a  block of wood, he dearly loved model trains.  He lived the Scout Oath and Motto, and always Did his Good Turn Daily.  Missed will he be;  yet another of the Greatest Generation to meet his Maker.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Mansfield during his stay at Cary Health & Rehab.  A very thoughtful and caring person who always made you feel special.  We will miss him dearly.

Frank was one of the finest gentlemen that I have ever known.  I had the pleasure of working with him at Dillon Supply for many years.  He was a wonderful friend, who I spent much valuable time with at his home on Dixie Trail, playing with model trains, talking about and looking at his wooden toys.  My son had one of them, and as a child, cherished it.  I'm left with many wonderful memories of Frank, and will miss him greatly, until that day.
