Michael was one of the first people we met when we moved to our neighborhood 20 years ago. He was always so friendly, offering help if needed. I’ll never forget asking him what it was like to be a first responder. He said, “Today I was hanging off the side of a building upside down. The sun was shining, the birds were singing…this is the best job in the world!”
We’ll miss you, Michael - as a neighbor and as a friend. God bless you and your family.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their memories of Michael. We have appreciated hearing each one of them. I have been able to get more specific information about where to make donations to the Burn Center where he volunteered, and wanted to share this with anyone who might be interested in doing so in his memory.

Wayland said Mike was a all in type person. He told of Mike's commitment to the RPFFA "better things to do" program during the early 90's for middle school students. He cared about those around him and loved doing his job well, he represented the RFD class of 81 strong. Praying for your family during this time and the days ahead.

I never actually worked at a station with Mike. We trained and answered calls together but never had the pleasure of being on the same equipment. We connected through a program sponsored by the RPFFA to benefit children targeted as potential drop outs. Mike truly invested himself and made a difference for this special group of children. He also volunteered as a counselor at Camp Celebrate. This was a camp for children recovering from burns. Mike was a great roll model for both old and young. He was not perfect but he was honest and he was present. He was respected as a Fire Captain, a mentor and a friend. He was one of the good guys! He made a difference! I will continue to pray for his family. I will miss him until we meet again. Rest In peace Michael Davis!

I am truly sorry to hear about this loss and I will be praying for y’all for peace and comfort during this time of loss. I worked with Mike several years at fire station eleven in Brentwood and I must say that I always enjoyed working with him.He always treated me with great respect and as a friend I tried to help him learn to play the guitar but I am not sure if he continued practicing after I was transferred to another station. I know y’all will miss him and I will also I was trying to get his address so I could send him a card but I never did get one and I ask Paul Averette to try to help me get it and he called me later that day and told me that he had died so I want y’all to know that I was truly blessed to have Mike as a friend..God’s blessings to y’all
