

George Steve Malindzak, Jr., PhD, 80, of Raleigh, died Sunday, April 7, 2013. He was born on January 3, 1933 in Cleveland, OH to George Steve Malinzak and Mary Malinzak. Dr. Malindzak served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dr. Malindzak was a life-long educator, scientist, and an accomplished boater. He was an active member of the United States Power Squadron and an avid golfer. Dr. Malindzak was retired from NIEHS.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Malindzak; sons: Edward G. Malindzak and wife, Krista of Ottawa, Canada; Eric S. Malindzak and wife, Aine of San José, CA; and Rodger Scott Malindzak and wife, Suzanne of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brothers: Robert Malinzak and wife, Judith; Roger Malinzak and wife, Dolores; Edward Malinzak and wife, Cheryl; and Thomas Malinzak and wife, Mitzi; sisters: Wilma Divoky; Doris Delsersone and husband, Eugene; and Betsy Wolfe and husband, Rick.
He is also survived by his 4 cherished grandchildren: Logan, Owen, Quinn, and Shane.
Dr. Malindzak is preceded in death by his daughters: Elizabeth, Karen, and Katherine.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh.
A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
