Gwendolyn Adleberg, affectionately known by her family as Gwen, 83, passed away on August 5, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on September 8, 1942 in Wake County; she was the daughter of the late John William Adleberg and Nora Mills Adleberg and sister of the late John William "Billy" Adelberg, Jr.
Gwen loved being around her family and friends. Upon meeting anyone new or known, she would say "Give me a hug!". The last three years, Gebee was a resident at Raleigh Rehab. Every evening, on all floors, she would wish everyone goodnight. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her sister-in-law and caregiver: Peggy Stevens Adleberg; nieces: Shirley and Tim Walker, Tonia Stevens, Vonda and Robert Lindsay, and Cathy and David Barton; nephews: David and Beverly Harris, Keith Self, and Blake Self: numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, with a procession led by a horse drawn caisson to Raleigh Memorial Park.
