 Mr. Barbour  Ron and I are so glad that we met you here in San Antonio.  Your son and my husband say they are brothers from different mothers so close are they, my husband lost his dad 3wks before you leftus,so we know what it truly feels like to have dads gone. Dad, i know you are in peace with Granny and Grandaddy, and finally happy forever, but i'll never understand, what was going thru your mind, to do what you did, but isn't my place to judge you. I want you know that i look up to you as my Dad, I know Tim is the man he's because of you, he have told me that many times, he learn so much from you, I'm so glad back in September, he surprise you, and show up without notice at your house, he got a mission then, to bring you back with him, we'll always remember that visit, even David and Matthew, will remember that, they were old enough. David will always remember of you on anything he see Nascar your favorite sport....Dad thank you for the time you give us, i wish we knew what you were going thru,for now we just have happy memories, and pictures that we'll tresure forever. I know Tim miss you very, very much, he miss talking to you, we all miss you and love you forever.

The first Father's Day has passed now without your children being able to say they love you and "Happy Father's Day, Dad." I try to focus on the fun times we had together in years past--the big family get-togethers at Mom and Dad's home, esp. Christmas, when you would be there from Florida, and it was even more special because you were there. I treasure our fun times on the ship and the islands during our cruise 3 years ago, and most recently, last Nov. when you spent a whole month with us in NC. We had some good family fellowship with Gail's family during that time, too, and you seemed to be SO happy and content to be among those who you knew loved you. But now all we have are our memories and many photographs, and they will have to do. I miss you, Harold, and will forever love and cherish you.  Your sister Portia

Dearest Dad, Well, this is the first Fathers Day since you died. It has been a very hard day. I love you and miss you so much. I am so sorry you lived so unhappy for so many years. I am sorry I couldn't do more to help you with your depression. I know how you felt, I feel it too. Sometimes it feels like hell on earth but I know that isn't so, because the bible tells us so. I can only imagine how great it is in heaven, no sorrow or pain or sadness. No tears past the gate!!! I can't imagine that, but I look forward to that day! 
I am sorry that Matthew and David will grow up without you. We will keep your memories alive for them to know you. 
You were a great dad and I sure miss being daddy's little girl!   I will forever love and miss you! Thank you for raising me to be who I am today. 
Thank you for sending me to church and to the christian school and all your sacrifices for our family. You were and are an awesome man!!

Dad,
It is hard to say goodbye. I pray that this is not "goodbye", but that it is, "I will see you again, soon". There are so many unanswered questions, so much that I do not understand... 
Thank you for introducing me to IBM, for giving me a vision greater than a redneck from North Carolina had. For laughing with me when I almost rear ended a Rolls-Royce, for giving us a place to live. For getting me involved in computers (I wrote my first program on Dad's IBM PC Jr.), for helping me to drive a nail straight. 
For showing me that it is good to keep a car clean, and how to cook a steak and Bar-b-q chicken. 
For putting up with my endless questions, for showing me it is more fun to fish from a boat, for proving that common sense is not so common. 

Thank you for always being there.

Rest easy, Dad...

Harold was deeply loved by his sisters, Portia & Gail, and his brother, Roger. We have our wonderful memories of him when he was a happy person and not consumed with the idea of dying before his time. I wish I could turn back the clock but now it's too late.
