

Harold Bates Plummer, of Raleigh, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Wake Med Hospital. He was born April 30, 1929, in Selma, AL, the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Bates Plummer. Harold served in the US Army in the early 1950's.
Harold attended the Clayton Church of Christ and enjoyed The University of Alabama football. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as enjoyed playing and coaching slow pitch softball. He retired in 1994 from the NC Department of Transportation, as an engineer after 28 years of service. Harold also enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce M. Plummer; son, Bates Plummer and wife Suzanne of Clayton; daughter, Allison Pace and husband Buddy of Clayton; grandson, Josh Pace; and caretakers, Selena Gray and Diana Harris.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11 AM at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh. Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh.
