Harriett McLoud Dixon, 70, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013. Born April 22, 1943 in Burlington, she was the daughter of the late James Thad and Lenell Odom McLoud. Harriett graduated from Williams High School and Meredith College. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and wealth of selflessness and her devotion to her family, faith and friends. Throughout her five-year battle with Breast Cancer, Harriett’s positive attitude never wavered, nor did she ever express a single complaint of her illness. She spent many years teaching preschool, as well as working in some of the finer boutiques in Raleigh. Her great love of animals brought about the adoption of many pets throughout her life. Her greatest display of affection was shown in the countless hours she spent with her daughters and their horses. And obvious to all who knew her well was her other passion - the game of tennis - where she formed many lifelong friendships while playing on various teams in the area. When her body no longer allowed her to swing the tennis racquet, she devoted the rest of her life to her husband, home, children, grandchildren and church, where she joyfully served as a member of the Altar Guild.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20th at Christ Church,120 East Edenton Street, Raleigh.
