Helen Shaw Hudgins

Helen Shaw Hudgins, of Raleigh, NC died Monday, September 30, 2013. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hudgins, born and educated in Durham, NC, was the daughter of the late Betty Ann Barbee Shaw and Hurley Jennings Shaw, Sr. She married Lee Sylvester Hudgins, Jr. in 1945 and moved to Raleigh. She and her late husband were the owners of Automotive Adjustments. She sang in the choir and served on various committees at Longview United Methodist Church in Raleigh for over 50 years. She was actively engaged as a leader in the Girl Scouts, the PTA, and the Longview Community Club. Family and friends were treasured gifts; she loved learning, listening and sharing life experiences.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Calvin High Shaw and Hurley Jennings Shaw, Jr.

Mrs. Hudgins is survived by her sister, Edna Shaw Lutz of Hendersonville, her daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Ronnie Davis of Garner, Susan and David McKenzie of Pinehurst, and two grandchildren, Jessica Davis and Brian McKenzie.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 4, 2013 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh.
