Henry was born in Jersey City, NJ, in 1933 and passed away unexpectedly. Early years were spent in North Plainfield, NJ. Henry attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1955 and a Master of Science in Industrial Management in 1963. While at Stevens, Henry co-¬captained the baseball team, was a member of Chi Psi fraternity and participated in ROTC as a member of the Arnold Air Society. In 1956 he was assigned to Thule AFB in Thule, Greenland,and then Richard¬-Gebaur AFB in Kansas City, MO, both with the USAF.
Henry began his career in sales design with Accurate Bushing Company in Garwood, NJ, and then took on an engineering role with ALCOA in Edgewater, NJ. From there he joined the engineering department of Johns¬-Manville and transferred to Butner, NC as Plant Manager. A Division Manager position in Manville, NJ followed, and another Plant Manager role in Nacogdoches, TX. After retiring from Johns-¬Manville, Henry joined Penn Compression Molding in Smithfield, NC as Division Manager. He went on to work as a salesman with Allen & Deans in Raleigh for 10 years, retiring again at age 75.
Henry appreciated Dixieland jazz, enjoyed golf and tennis and regularly took astronomy classes at NCSU. He was an avid NY Yankees baseball fan, had a keen interest in the history of the Civil War and often helped neighbors and family with home¬ projects.
Henry was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Florence Kopp and father, Henry Kopp. He is survived by his wife Pauline Moore Kopp of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Audrey Kopp Price of Raleigh, NC and Julie Kopp Brown of Charlotte, NC; and one grandchild, Amelia Waelde Price of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving is a younger brother David Theodore Kopp and his family in New Braunfels, TX. Donations to the Cancer Society are welcome.
There is no viewing scheduled. Private interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC.
