

Irma Leggett Hamilton, 81, passed away on January 26, 2016. She was born to the late Roy Gray Leggett and Georgie Johnson Leggett in Durham, NC on November 17, 1934. Born into this world as a preemie, she left a big impression on this world and her family. She graduated from East Carolina University. Her career was spent teaching elementary school aged children at Swift Creek Elementary and in the Lexington, NC school system leaving a positive impact on their lives. Irma enjoyed keeping up with everyone's birthdays and sending cards, writing letters, reading, and researching about family history.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Clarke and husband, Dr. Donald Keith Clarke, sisters: Mary Mashburn and husband, Wayne, Georgianna Green and husband, Eddie, grandchildren: Ryan Clarke and wife, Lydia Boyette, and Amy Clarke, and several cousins, nieces and one nephew. Her extended family was also very dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Arthur Hamilton, whom she married on December 20, 1959 In Raleigh, NC.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 12:30 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. A visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
