George Baker "Jack" Boddie died peacefully on September 7, 2013, at the Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community in Raleigh, where he had lived since 1998.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Rudisill "Sing" Boddie in 2008. Jack was born in Glenmora, Louisiana, the son of David Baker Boddie and Ella Mae Kegler Boddie. After service in the U.S. Army Air Corps (1942-46) and graduation from Louisiana State University in 1947, he moved to Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he met Sing. They married in 1950 and moved to Raleigh in 1962. He was in the plumbing supply business for more than 40 years, operating Jack Boddie & Associates with Andy Helms and Louis Lambe beginning in 1974.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 12 at the Oakwood Cemetery mausoleum in Raleigh, with his niece, the Rev. Linda Boddie Clark officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. at Springmoor Auditorium.

Jack is survived by his son, John Boddie; his nieces, Linda Clark, Susan Davis and Harriett Boddie; and his nephews, David Boddie and Thomas Boddie.

John, I was saddened to learn of Jack's death, he was a close and dear family friend. His friendship and support for my Mother at Springmoor will never be forgotten. Susan and I will be unable to attend the graveside service as we are out of town, but please note that we will be remembering him and his friendship.

Dear John, I was so sorry to hear that your father has died. He was a remarkable man, a pleasure to get to know him these past months at Springmoor. I hope it was some comfort to him to be cared for on E hall. Please accept my deepest condolances. Remember you were the most devoted son and your father was extremely proud of you. You were a comfort to him, especially in his last days.
