Jack Wilson Honeycutt, 73, of Raleigh, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Honeycutt and Truelettie Oliver Honeycutt and his brother, Fred Honeycutt.
Jack was retired after working many decades at Precision Walls Inc. He hired many people over the years, giving them a start in a business when others would not. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and found good in everyone. Jack loved to fix things and work on engines. Many lawnmowers in Wake and the surrounding counties will languish in his absence. He loved to get behind the wheel and go driving – anywhere. It did not matter where or when or what he was driving. He would drop everything to rush to someone with automotive issues and regularly rescued his children throughout their teens. With his cousin and friends, he owned a race car in the '70s where they were a fixture at Wake County Speedway. Jack also loved to fish, go to turkey shoots, and fly in small planes with his daughter. Wherever an engine could be cranked, he wanted to be there. Most of all, he loved spending time with his two grandsons. His family and friends will forever remember him as a hilarious man, who laughed easily, and never met a stranger.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Hopkins Honeycutt; children, Wanda Honeycutt Jackson (Frank), Tonya Honeycutt Inman (Andrew) and Thomas Glenn Honeycutt (Rebecca); two grandsons, Thomas Honeycutt Jr. and Oliver Honeycutt; brother, Ben Honeycutt (Joanne); sister, Ann Honeycutt Lawrence (Robert); sister-in-law, Pat Honeycutt; nephews and many cousins in the extended Oliver and Honeycutt families.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22 from 6:00-8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00, also at Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
