Jack Donald Keith

Jack Donald Keith of Durham, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on March 30, 1940 in Raleigh, North Carolina where he grew up with his brother and sister, Wallace and Daphine, and enjoyed spending his time bird hunting.

Jack was a simple man but wasn’t afraid to let his actions show how he cared. He was married to Vera Brown Keith for 27 years and proved his devotion through the end of her life as her caregiver of 11 years. He also showed his care to his children, including giving Bonnie away at her wedding to Don, a very special gift from him to the two of them considering how little he liked to be the focus of people’s attention.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Macy Keith, his beloved wife of 27 years, Vera Brown Keith, and his brother, Wallace Keith.

His is survived by his step-sons, Don Hyatt (Bonnie), Ron Hyatt (Andrea), Wayne Hyatt (Teresa); his sister, Daphine Cash (Junior); his girlfriend, Martha Rigsbee; and his grandchildren, Courtney, Chantelle, Craig, Chad, Sheena, and Ana; and a plethora of other extended family and loved ones.

The family would like to thank Jennifer, his hospice care team, and his home care team for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days and for the ease they brought to his day to day life.

Family and friends were invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel at Mitchell Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family began at 10:00 AM.

Interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
