Dear Wilma,

Sandra and I grieve with you in what must be life's most poignant suffering. What fine neighbors you and Jim have been to our family for the decades we have lived behind you. I will long remember Jim as kind and gracious... for the sensitivity with which he dealt with our boys for their assault upon your back storm windows with their batted rocks over the fence from our backyard to yours.

The LORD make Himself known to you in these days of mourning, and cause you to desire His companionship and solace through the Person of His Son, the LORD Jesus, Who boldly holds Himself forth as the way, the truth, and the life.

I wish to extend my condolences to the family of Jim Blake for their heart-felt loss. I know as we mourn his passing from this world as we will miss him, we also know he is moving to a grander place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

He will always be remembered as “Jimmy Blake,” one of my childhood buddies at Wiley School. When we were eight and nine, Jimmy, Lewis Parham and myself would go to Lewis Parham's home at the corner of Saint Mary's Street and West Jones Street after school to play cowboys before we headed home for the day. Then there were the cowboy movies every Friday and Saturday at the old Capital Theatre on West Martin Street – ten cents for the movie, a nickel for box of popcorn. A delightful life for young boys who dreamed of growing up one day to perhaps be one of those cowboys.

Jimmy will always be remembered as one of the nicest persons that each of us were blessed to have him share his life with us.

God Bless You and Comfort You in your time of Sorrow.
