James Medford Brothers Jr.

Jim Brothers, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 15, 2013 while at his beloved Paradise Bay in Salter Path, N.C. He was born in Wilmington, N.C. on July 22, 1944 moving to Raleigh at age 6, a graduate of Broughton High School class of 1962 and graduating from UNC Wilmington with honors in 1966.

A treasured career with Cameron-Brown began his 45 years in banking. He retired from North State Bank in 2009. Jim loved helping his builders succeed in their careers- honor service to them was his goal.

Marrying his high school sweetheart, Joan Hubbard August 23, 1968, they were blessed with the birth of their only child, a son, Jimmy Brothers in September, 1973. On January 24, 2013 he was again blessed with the birth of his grandson, Mason James Brothers. At this time he changed his name to “Grandpa”.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Helen Brothers and his in-laws Jim and Blanche Hubbard. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Jimmy, wonderful daughter-in-law Erin Chaffee Brothers, his grandson Mason and his beloved sister-in-law Cathy H. Green and his brother-in-law Lin Green of Wilson and his beloved pet, Maggie.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home’s Wynne Center. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held Saturday July 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, N.C.
