

James Pearce Senter, 89, of Raleigh died February 25 with his family by his side. He was born on March 9, 1922 in Kipling, NC to the late James Curtis Senter and Vallie Wilborn Senter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Margaret Moore Senter and daughter Margaret “Midge” Moore Senter, brothers Eugene and Worth, and sisters Lois and Vada.
Jim Senter is survived by his daughter Patricia Williams and husband Steve, of Raleigh; daughter Carol Evans and husband Wayne, of Salisbury, MD and four grandchildren, Curtis Steven Williams and wife Robyn; Margaret Williams Consolino and husband Dave; John Scott Evans, James Senter Evans and great grandchild Brynn.
He attended Louisburg College and graduated from East Carolina University. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Pacific as a US Navy Lieutenant. Following the war, he settled in Raleigh and began his career in the NC Department of Revenue serving many years as the well respected Assistant Deputy Commissioner.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm on Monday, February 27 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s St. Raleigh, (919) 828-4311.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 28 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 1520 Canterbury Rd. Raleigh, with burial following at Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to American Lung Association of NC, 514 Daniels St. #109, Raleigh.
