Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jim lived a life defined not just by what he built, but by how deeply he loved.
Jim was educated at North Carolina State University and went on to found Ironclad Security Systems, creating a successful business through grit, intelligence, and an unshakable work ethic. He was proud of what he built, but never prouder than he was of the family he came home to each day.
Standing 6'5', Jim was often called a gentle giant, a man whose size was matched only by the kindness of his heart. Those who knew him best knew his strength showed up in quieter ways, in his steady presence, his patience, and his unwavering devotion to the people he loved.
Jim found joy in the moments that mattered most. He loved the thrill of Formula One racing and NASCAR, the satisfaction of working on and restoring cars, and the comfort of time spent with family. He cherished working on projects with his son, Sawyer, sharing laughter and competition side by side. They both shared a love for computers. He treasured listening to country music with his daughter, Savannah, creating memories woven with music and closeness.
He delighted in transforming his home each year, joyfully decorating the yard for Halloween and Christmas, spreading cheer to his family and neighbors alike.
Above all, Jim's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laurie Sheldon, and his children, Savannah and Sawyer, who were the very center of his world. Everything he did was for them, and his love will continue to guide them every day.
Jim will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, his quiet strength, and the way he made people feel safe, seen, and loved.
Though his presence is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, the family he adored, and the countless moments of love he leaves behind.
