Jean Setzer Gupton

She graduated from Cary High School and attended Peace College before marrying the love of her life, Larry.

She worked as Receptionist at First Baptist Church and later at Hayes Barton Baptist Church during her career.

Jean was actively involved in several ministries, served as a Sunday School teacher for several years, as a deacon for a short term, and was a life-long member with First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Glenn Setzer (father), Chloie Copeland Setzer (mother), Larry Leigh Gupton (husband), and Michael Leigh Gupton (stepson).

She is survived by Chris Gupton (son), Phoebe Gupton (granddaughter), Andrea Gupton (daughter-in-law), Patty James (stepdaughter), and Sherry Gupton (stepdaughter-in-law).

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27603 on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 1:00pm.

A private burial of Inurnment at Raleigh Memorial Park will precede the Celebration of Life.
