
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jean Murphy, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on June 14, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on June 10, 1948, in White Plains, NY.
The daughter of the late Jim and Mildred Murphy, Jean was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Jim Jr. and Kenneth Murphy. She is survived by her devoted brother, Brian Murphy, and her loving sisters, Kathleen Murphy Baum and Patricia Murphy Boerner. Her legacy of warmth and generosity lives on in her nieces, Heather King, Erin Buck, and Caitlin Tracey, and nephews, Corey Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Ben Murphy-Baum, Joe Murphy-Baum, and Christopher Boerner. She also leaves behind great-nieces and nephews, Dylan, Phoenix, Saiorse, Oliver, and Emerson.
Jean graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Her professional journey led her to Pepsico in Purchase, NY, where she dedicated over three decades as a systems manager. Her work was characterized by dedication, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
Ridgefield, CT, was where Jean called home for most of her adult life, a place that held her heart alongside her cherished New England and Nantucket Island. Her love for travel found her exploring family vacations in North Carolina and the scenic landscapes of Europe, always with family and friends who were the center of her world.
Jean's life was a testament to her unwavering generosity and care. Her profound empathy was especially evident in the loving care she provided to her brother Jim and her parents during their final years.

The Murphy family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Inova Hospital, Alexandria, and Goodwin House Hospice, especially the compassionate second-floor staff, for their unwavering support and assistance during Jean's illness.
A “Celebration of Jean’s Life” will take place Saturday, June 20, 4:30 pm at Goodwin House Retirement Community, 3440 S. Jefferson Street, Falls Church, VA 22041. A private burial will take place at Raleigh Memorial Park at a later date.
