Joanne was born, Joanna Rosko, January 6, 1940, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as the first child to loving parents, Adele (Haneski) and Stanley Adam Rosko; both deceased. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert John Rosko; and her ex-husband, George R. (Bob) Grover. Later in life she was predeceased by her loving partner, Louis Pagliuso.
Joanne and her brother were raised in Fairfield, Connecticut. A proud alumna of the University of Connecticut, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Before dedicating herself to starting a family, she shared her passion for learning as a teacher in the Hartford, CT school district. While living in Vernon, CT both Bob and Joanne were avid bridge players, where they met their life-long family friends, Donald and Kathleen Moyer, and their families became very close.
Joanne was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth, generosity and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She and Lou enjoyed dancing together for many years. Joanne’s greatest joy in life was being a mother during her 17 years in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. In retirement, Joanne spent almost 30 years living in Raleigh, North Carolina. Joanne and her family also enjoyed beach life together for 17 years in Caswell Beach, North Carolina.
Grieving Joanne is her daughter, Laura Anne Grover of Raleigh, NC along with Andrew D. Jones of New Bern, NC; her son, Kevin Robert Grover of Greensboro, North Carolina, with his wife, Chrystal Lambeth Grover; as well as her adopted son, godson and nephew, Ronald Jason Rosko of Walpole, NH; her adored grandsons, Jason Robert Grover and Sean Michael Grover and the grandsons' mother, Dresden Fitch Grover, all of Oak Ridge, North Carolina.
She will be deeply missed and remembered for the love, laughter, french onion dip, and lasagne; and wise counsel and faithful support she unconditionally shared with her family and friends.
The family wants to thank the staff at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, NC and Terra Bella Assisted Living of Southport (Memory Care) for their unwavering care for Joanne and her family. We are also grateful to Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their guidance and comfort care during Joanne's final weeks.
