John went to Columbia University for his Bachelor’s degree in 1966. He proceeded to receive his Ph.D. from Stonybrook University in 1971. He was the Executive Director of IUPAC before retiring.
John and Kim married on June 27, 1969. He is survived by his loving wife; sister-in-law Faith Obolewicz, brother-in-law, Kirk Obolewicz; niece Wiara and husband Mica Jackson; and 3 grand-nephews Malachi, Caleb and Jonah.
