

John attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. He also attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he earned his MBA Degree. John also passed the CPA Exam.
When John was at the University of Pittsburgh, he was in the Air Force ROTC Program. Upon graduation from Pitt, he served 5 years in the Air Force. For 1 year John taught statistics at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. During the Vietnam War, John was stationed in Bangkok, Thailand for 1 year at the Korat Air Force Base. When John ended his service as a Captain in the United States Air Force he moved to Columbus, Ohio.
John worked at Huntington Bank where he was a Senior Accountant in Columbus, Ohio. John also worked as a Controller for Continental Life Insurance (Aetna group of Companies) in New York City, New York. For almost 25 years John ran Info Systems Consultants (ISC) in Flemington, New Jersey. He started this business in which he worked closely with AT&T, consulting for them both in the U.S. and Europe on their International projects.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Marcia “Marti” Quarry Latz.
John is survived by his son, John K. Latz of Wake Forest, NC; his grandson, John N. Latz of Ashburn, VA and his granddaughter, Jacqueline N. Latz of Raleigh, NC.
The Family would like to thank all the Doctor's, Nurse's, and other medical support staff at Duke Hospital and Medical Pavillion that gave him care, comfort and support.
Family and friends were invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, March 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. A Funeral service was held with an entombment following in the Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
