

Joseph Richard Pawlowicz, 65, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord, on April 20, 2012, in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on March 10, 1947, in Butler, PA, beloved son of Leon Pawlowicz and Mary Ragan Pawlowicz.
Joe was raised in Butler and moved to the Felton PA area in 1975. He retired to Pilot Mountain, NC in January, 2011. He attended Penn State University and graduated with his degree in Engineering. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and could always be found fixing his and others cars. Above all he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 44 years, Betty Pawlowicz, who he met while serving in the Air Force; dear daughter, Sheila Gibson and husband Mike; his precious grandchildren, Michael “Dylan”, Summer Hope, and Presley Nicole Gibson. Joe will also be deeply missed by his sister Rosemary Pawlowicz, brother Thomas A. Pawlowicz and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, L. Edward Pawlowicz.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday April 24, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday April 25, at the St. Mary’s Chapel, at the Community of St. Francis of Assisi, 11401 Leesville Road. The graveside service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park with Military Honors.
