Judy was born July 14, 1928 in Moorefield, WV to the late Boyd McWhorter and Rosemond Clark McWhorter. She was a member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edwin L. Pierce; and brother, John McWhorter.
Judy is survived by her sons, Paul Pierce and his wife, Marion of Durham; David Pierce of Chapel Hill; Tim Pierce and his wife, Chiu Mei of Raleigh; daughters, Kathy Sayers of Raleigh; and Beth Pierce of Raleigh; and 5 grandchildren, Megan Sayers; Wilson Pierce; Leslie Pierce; Harrison Pierce; Evan Pierce.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612 with Rev. Rick Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at her home, 2618 Churchill Road, Raleigh, NC 27608.
