Kathleen Mary Kampfer, 64, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016, following a prolonged illness. She was born March 21, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio. She was a graduate of Start High (Toledo, Ohio), Stautzenberger College (Toledo, Ohio) and NC State University (Raleigh, NC). She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia J. Rabideau and brothers, William E. Rabideau, and Mark P. Rabideau.
She married the love of her life, John D. Kampfer on October 20, 1973, and is survived by him. She is also survived by her children, Robert Kampfer (Melissa Kampfer), Brian Kampfer (Ginger Moffitt), Melissa Poole (Thomas Poole Jr.) and her “adopted” children Julie Poole and Mark Rabideau.
Kathy found her true joy in being a grandmother to her nine beautiful grandchildren; Tiffani, Jasmine, Amber, Cassie, Faith, Tripp, Dylan, Savannah, and Nova.
She lived her life through giving to others and caring for her family and friends. An avid crafter, artist, and music lover, she was always expressing herself through various forms of art and included her grandchildren in her passion. In addition, Kathy leaves behind her father Robert E. Rabideau and wife Celia Bonhagen; sisters, Sue Raymond and Kelly Huq; brothers, Gary Rabideau, Michael Rabideau, Dennis Rabideau and Jeffrey Rabideau, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors, all of whom were touched by her boundless love.
Kathy’s devotion to her family and compassion for others is what those closest to her will remember most. Unconditional love is defined as that which is not limited in any way, complete and absolute. She was truly the epitome of this definition, as she loved everyone exactly as they were, right where they were. This was her gift to us. May we all learn from her example.
A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 6 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh. Anyone wishing to share a loving story of Kathy will be able to do so during the service.
