2/21/45 – 5/9/12
Kelin Eugene Brewer, II - great pontificator, sailor, superb house painter, ardent admirer of the female sex, self-described stud muffin, history buff, voracious reader, earnest and loyal friend and most importantly lover of Jesus Christ, passed into his Savior’s arms in the early morning hours of Wednesday May 9, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kelin was born in Portsmouth, VA; was a graduate of Broughton High School and attended NC State College. He spent the majority of his career as a successful salesman in the field of insurance/medical sales and later as a small business owner. Most importantly, he was an active participant of the Raleigh Men’s Non-Denominational Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). After his initial diagnosis, his only wish was that God would grant him enough time to finish his second 7-year round of BSF. It would have only taken one more year; however, God called him home.
Kelin is survived by his loving family - Deborah Twiford; daughters Heather Leigh Brewer and Anna Carey Jeffreys; and son Kelin Eugene Brewer, III. He had many “adopted” children and grandchildren who continuously brought immense happiness and joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard E. Brewer and Avaline E. (“Evie”) Brewer of Raleigh, NC; his brother, John H. Brewer, of Chesapeake, VA.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Rex Cancer Center and Piedmont Medical Associates for their love, friendship, and compassionate care throughout Kelin’s diagnosis, treatment and end-of-life. The family is especially grateful to Anna Jeffreys, daughter and sister, for her devoted care in his final months.
Arrangements: Visitation at Brown-Wynne, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday, May 13, 2012; Memorial/Life Celebration, Trinity Baptist Church Chapel, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, and would be appreciated, to Hospice of Wake County.
Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family at www.brownwynne.com
