Kimberly Erin (Doyle) Marotta, 36, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from complications of heart disease. Kim was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts on March 4, 1980 and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1998 and attended North Adams State College in North Adams, Massachusetts. She moved to Durham, North Carolina with her parents in 2005.
Kim spent most of her career working in the Hospitality and Food Service Industry as well as Retail Customer Service. She was most recently employed at Lowe’s Foods in Raleigh. Her love of sports was evident in her passion for her beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She knew every player, every injury and could rattle off stats like a professional broadcaster. In good times and bad, she stood by her teams as one of their biggest cheerleaders. Her infectious smile and inviting personality would light up a room and she instantly became a friend to anyone who met her. She was kind and generous even to people she barely knew. She lived life to the fullest and her caring and compassion were evident in everything she did. Her family was her first love. She was a devoted mother from the moment she learned she was pregnant with her first child. She truly found her calling in motherhood and was a shining role model to her sister. No matter what was going on with her life medically, what challenges she faced, she held her head high and put her family first.
Following her diagnosis of Heart Failure, Kim trained to become a Women Heart Champion. She devoted the past few years of her life educating women on the risks of heart disease. She was truly at her happiest sharing her story with others. She shined like a beacon of hope spreading the word about this silent killer of women. She would have been so honored and fulfilled knowing her story affected just one person, though we know it reached and touched so many more.
Kim leaves her loving parents, Sue and David Doyle of Durham, NC; her devoted husband, Jason A. Marotta and their precious daughters, Anna and Sophie, all of Raleigh, NC; and her best friend and sister, Michelle and husband James LoDico and nephews, Anthony and Gabriel, all of Taunton, Mass. Kim also leaves her parents-in-law Linda and Peter Marotta of Raleigh, NC, brother-in-law Mathew and wife Lynn Marotta and nephews, Ethan and Gray, all of Cary NC, as well as, many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends across the United States.
