Landy was the daughter of Ashley and Margaret Davis. Landy grew up in Raleigh, full of joy and curiosity. She loved swimming so much that her hair turned green during the summers. She loved the annual family reunions at Holden Beach, being outdoors, all animals, fishing, and hunting with her dad. To Landy, hunting meant napping in a tree stand deep in the Warren County woods while listening to the animal sounds on a beautiful day. She collected fossils in NC and in the Rocky Mountains with the family. Landy loved participating in the YMCA Indian Princess program. In 2002, she was presented in the North Carolina Terpsichorean Debutante Ball.
Landy graduated from Broughton High School, where she was a member of the swim and cross-country teams. She attended Western Carolina Univ. for what she described as a “hot minute.” Her first job out of school was as a lifeguard at the Finley YMCA and later worked as a real estate property manager.
Landy was funny and clever, possessing a sharp wit and a dry sense of humor. She was intelligent, charismatic, and compassionate. She was always quick to put others before herself. She volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels with her dad. Landy enjoyed cooking and frequently shared her delicious Key lime pies.
She was proud to have been named Landy Boyd after her great grandfather and great uncle on the Altman side of the family. As an adult, she was Aunt LaLa to her precious niece and nephew, whom she adored.
Landy was predeceased by her grandparents Clarence Ashley and Rachel Davis of Warrenton, NC; grandparents Sam and Margaret Mann of Washington, NC and formerly of Raleigh; and her uncle Louis H. Mann of Raleigh.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Ashley and Margaret Davis of Raleigh; her brother, Bo Davis and sister-in-law Kinsey of Raleigh; niece, Cayden and nephew Hudson of Raleigh; Aunt Brenda D. Smith of Atlanta; Uncle John H. Davis of Rolesville; and cousins, whom she loved very much.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 10:00 AM on November 10. Visitation with the family will be in the Parish Life Center following the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
