Lena Margaret (Germain) Hubbell, born on March 26, 1929 in East Syracuse NY, to the late Michael and Lena Germain, passed away in Raleigh, NC to a better life, on January 15, 2016. Lena was a graduate of East Syracuse High School, worked at F. W. Woolworths, and married the love of her life, the late Gerald F. Hubbell on May 17, 1952.
Lena has been a lifelong devout wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a fabulous home maker, and a great cook, but her devotion to raising her sons was her passion. Retiring to Raleigh with her husband, in 1991 to be near her sons and their families, she enjoyed a fruitful and pleasant retirement.
Her hobbies included reading, bingo, bowling, playing cards, and watching TV. She was always full of fun and laughter, loved her entire family dearly, and her legacy of love lives on in them. She will be dearly missed, but we know she is now with the Good Lord. We love you Mom.
Survivors include her brother, Guy Germain; her sons, Gerald F. Hubbell, Jr. and wife Andrea, and Richard P. Hubbell and wife Kay; four grandchildren, Lauren Carver, Michael Hubbell and wife Kelly, Amanda Hubbell, and Adam Hubbell; and her great grandchildren, Makenzie Carver and Asher Hubbell.
Services will be held on Wednesday Jan. 20th, 2016 at 1PM at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC, followed by burial committal at Raleigh Memorial Park next door. Family will receive friends beforehand from 12-1PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the family in Lena’s Honor.
