Linda Jean Lux (née Partelow), 72, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on July 3, 2026. Born in Auburn, NY, Linda grew up in nearby Weedsport and Loudonville. She made Raleigh her home in the late 1980s—a city she would come to love for the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Lux, and her parents, Leonard and Barbara (Lind) Partelow. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Lux (Devon Prater) of Philadelphia, PA, and Jeffrey Lux (Melissa Showers) of Irvine, CA; her grandson, William Lux-Showers; her brother, Leonard Partelow Jr. (Linda); her sisters, Patricia Crelly (James) and Laura Ribosh (John Verone); and her sisters-in-law Katherine Chambers (Steve) and Jessica Lux (Brian Rush) and also her many nieces and nephews, along with their families.
Linda earned her Master of Public Administration from Penn State, a milestone that launched a remarkable career of more than 30 years in public health research, most of it spent at RTI International. A prolific author, her work touched countless lives, and she brought to it the same dedication, intelligence, and compassion that defined every part of her life.
A place especially dear to Linda’s heart was Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks of New York. It was there that she met and married her husband, Ken, and where she spent many treasured years surrounded by family and friends. The lake, its beauty, and the memories made there became an important and cherished part of her life.
She had a deep passion for artistic expression and a love of gardening. She found great joy in her sewing group and in her treasured circle of friends affectionately known as “The Clubbers” with whom she shared decades of laughter, loyalty, and love. For many years, they gathered faithfully, creating memories and bonds that remained a constant source of joy in her life. She also developed an interest in genealogy alongside her grandfather that became a lifelong passion, especially later in life.
Linda was truly one of a kind—a generous, loving woman whose compassion for others seemed endless. She made a positive and lasting difference in the lives of so many, and her warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew her.
All are invited to celebrate Linda's life on Saturday, July 18th at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh with viewing hours from 1 to 3 PM and a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, Heifer International, or Project Hope, three charities close to her heart.
