It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lois Champion on Saturday, October 19, surrounded by her loving family and two special friends who provided invaluable support during her final moments. Lois left us peacefully, as if orchestrating every detail of her farewell.
After a brave battle with esophageal cancer, Lois’s health deteriorated rapidly following the cessation of chemotherapy on October 7. Her strength and determination were evident even in her most challenging moments; she faced each night with resilience, driven by her unwavering love for life and a relentless quest for knowledge.
Lois touched the lives of everyone she encountered, whether for a brief moment or over many years. She cherished her relationships deeply and was always eager to express her love and gratitude to all. The extraordinary network of friends and family surrounding her is a testament to the beautiful life she lived, and we can all aspire to have the same love and support when our time comes.
In her honor, a private family viewing will be held on Monday, October 20. The family is also planning celebrations of her life in Raleigh, NC in March and in Denver in May.
To her friends, thank you for being such a special part of Lois’s journey. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
