

Lorene grew up on a farm in Nash County, one of eleven brothers and sisters. She was the matriarch of all the siblings that have remained a closely bonded family all through the years. Her kind and loving nature and happy smile will be missed by everyone that knew her.
She was born in Nash County June 27, 1921 to the late James Benjamin and Lottie V Frazier Strum. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, R.L. “Hoss” Hagwood.
Lorene was also preceded in death by sisters Carolyn Turner Nelms, Sallie Vick and brothers Jim Allen, Marvin, Jack and Mack Strum.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Carol Taylor and husband Danny of Clayton; son, Ron Hagwood and wife Dianne of Clayton, and granddaughter Kelly Muller and husband Will of Cornelius, N.C.
She is also survived by sisters Catherine Nelms of Castalia, Kay Provetero and husband John of Cape Carteret, Gayle Miller and husband Barry of Charlottesville, Va. and brother Ronald Strum of Nashville, N.C., and family friend Judy Creech of Clayton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary’s St. Raleigh, NC 27605; where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
