

Louise was born November 11, 1919 in Huntersville, NC to the late William G. Alexander and Lillie Douglas Alexander.
She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and was a teacher for more than thirty years in the Wake County Public School system, primarily teaching elementary students at Sherwood Bates Elementary School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Honorary Teacher’s Association. She was an active member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, participating in various circles and a long-time member of the Adult Sunday School class. She was an avid and talented painter and belonged to several book and bridge clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson B. Harris; and brothers, Duck and Bud Alexander; sisters, Merle Youngblood; Bettye Knox; and Marverine Thomas.
Louise is survived by her son, Kemp Harris (Billie Redmond) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jim R. Harris (Stephanie) of Raleigh; Alex Harris of Statesboro, GA; and Jackson Harris of Harris, NC; and sisters, Jane Quick of Laurinburg; Audrey Dick of Huntersville; and Gwen McAuley of Davidson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Glenaire Retirement Community, 4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary, NC 27511. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
