We remember many joint and highly pleasurable gatherings with Lubie and Micki at their various homes. Lubie always had a good story to tell – when you could distract him from his praise of a recent athletic accomplishment by Carolina. Lubie’s legendary talent in collecting and picking pecans for later gifts always resulted in giving great enjoyment to the recipients of those nuts.

Daddy was a loving father. He would ask me in the morning what I wanted him to bake for me- brownies or oatmeal cookies. I’d make my choice and be off to school. When I arrived home after school, he would have fresh baked brownies or oatmeal cookies sitting on a napkin with a glass of milk. While I ate, he would ask me how my day was. He was a kind daddy. Then we would play poker!
