Luther W. "Nick" Nicar, Jr., 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at his home in Raleigh, NC. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late Luther W. and Amelia M. Nicar. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Charles Nicar, and his sister, Sarah Frances Nicar Morgan. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Virginia; his daughter, Libby Emswiler and husband, Emmette; granddaughter, Jennifer Fowler and husband, Kevin; grandson, David Emswiler and wife, Nicole; great-granddaughters, Madison and Harper Fowler; great-grandsons, John and Seth Emswiler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a longtime resident of Roanoke, VA, a veteran of WWII, a VA Department of Transportation retiree, a member of Taylor Masonic Lodge No. 23, and an active member of his church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church, Raleigh at 2:00 with a memorial service at 2:30.
