

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lynwood Anderson Bass Jr., affectionately known as L.A., on January 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 14, 1942, in Wilson, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of Lynwood Anderson Bass Sr. and Juanita Minchew Bass, who instilled in him strong values and a deep appreciation for family.
L.A. dedicated his life to his loved ones, serving as a devoted husband, a caring father, and a cherished grandfather. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Seburn, and together they shared a remarkable journey of love and companionship that spanned 67 years, including 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring bond was a testament to their commitment and affection for one another.
As a graduate gemologist, L.A. possessed a remarkable career in the jewelry industry for 60 years. He was the proud owner of Churchwell's Jewelers, where his exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to quality left an indelible mark on the community. L.A. was not only a skilled artisan but also a trusted advisor to countless customers who valued his expertise and integrity.
A passionate supporter of his grandchildren—Mary Claire, Caroline, Rylan, and Kaitlin—L.A. found immense joy in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent in their company. His warmth and generosity endeared him to family and friends alike, and he possessed a unique ability to foster connections and bring people together.
L.A. is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Bass; his son, Anderson, and his wife, Angie; his son, Seburn; and his treasured grandchildren, Mary Claire, Caroline, Rylan, and Kaitlin. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
