Madelyn Geanes Vaughan Gattis

Mrs. Gattis was born on April 10, 1920, in Raleigh, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Hayes and Lucy Wilson Geanes. Madelyn was a graduate of Hugh Morson High School in the Class of 1938. She is survived by daughters, Brenda Vaughan Garrison and son-in-law Ken Garrison, Kay Vaughan Cummings, Billie Vaughan Jones and son-in-law Ivan D. Jones, Jr.; one step child, Daniel Ray Gattis, Jr.; as well as grandchildren, Michael Bradley Cummings, Shannon Cummings Keesling, William Scott LaNier, Page LaNier Wallace, Ivan D. Jones, III, Madelyn Jones Backhaus, and Lee Tyler Jones. In addition, she is survived by 23 great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Gattis was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Terrell Vaughan, in 1995, and by her second husband, Daniel Ray Gattis, in 1998.

A memorial service will be held in the auditorium at the Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh on Monday , February 19, 2018 at 10:00 am.

A graveside service will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens, in Wilmington, NC on Monday, February 19, 2018, at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or the Springmoor Endowment Fund, 1500 Sawmill Rd. Raleigh NC 27615.
