Margarita Miranda Robles, 81, of Raleigh, passed away on August 8, 2018. Margarita received her PhD from the University of North Carolina. Her focus was in hospital administration and quality assurance of OR and ER rooms. She was the first health educator in Puerto Rico to take immunization vaccines to children in Vieques. She was also the first female to receive Professor Emeritus from the School of Public Health in Puerto Rico.
Margarita was the principle and founder of various faith program, as well as creating communities for Latinos in the Raleigh area. In Puerto Rico, she founded a holistic center for children with developmental delays.
Margarita is survived by her daughter, Marie Miranda-Robles; granddaughters, Karen and Kimberly Miranda; and two brothers, Tony and Pedrito. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Rita Miranda.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC. There will be a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Margarita will the laid to rest at Raleigh Memorial Park.
