Marielyn Andrews Hinton, cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, at home with her beloved husband by her side. Born on January 4, 1944, in Greenville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Mack and Mildred Andrews of Russellville, KY. Marielyn grew up with an eagerness for learning, earning recognition as a National Honor Student while also shining as a cheerleader at Russellville High School.
In 1961, Marielyn married her high school sweetheart, Captain of the football team, #64 Mike Hinton, and became his greatest supporter, building a marriage rooted in love, loyalty, and just enough spirited debate to keep life interesting. Fittingly, they shared 64 years together, one for every number on his jersey making #64 a number forever tied to their love story. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Before settling in Raleigh, NC, they embraced adventure, living in nine cities across seven states.
Marielyn was an energetic entrepreneur with an eye for beauty and history. She poured her passion into the antique shops she owned—first in Champaign, Illinois, and later in Raleigh, North Carolina. Beyond her work, she found joy in gardening, nurturing vibrant landscapes, and on the tennis court, where her competitive spirit and love for the game shone through.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Beth Niver. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 64 years, Mike Hinton; her children, Jennifer, and Michael (Ashley); and her cherished grandchildren: Ben Hinton, Mack Des Champs, Nathan Niver, James Niver, Kaeli Hinton, Makenna Hinton, Greer Hinton, and Philip LoVerde.
Marielyn’s legacy is one of love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She had a gift for making those around her feel special, always finding joy in the people she loved and the memories they created together. Her warmth, wisdom, and spirited nature will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
We will gather to celebrate Marielyn’s life, and we will share details as soon as they are available. Please check back for updates.
