Marjorie Bunch Stephenson, 85, passed away on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie was born on December 5th, 1940, in Raleigh, NC, to Fred and Alice Bunch.

Marjorie didn’t just occupy a space in our lives; she built a home within our hearts. Whether she was acting as a devoted wife, a patient mother, a playful grandma, or a loyal sister, her life was defined by a single, beautiful habit: putting others first.

She had a way of knowing exactly what someone needed before they even realized it themselves. Her love wasn't loud or boastful; it was found in the quiet moments—the warm meals, the listening ear, and the steady presence that reminded us we were never alone. To have known Marjorie was to know what true, unconditional kindness looks like.

Marjorie was a woman who understood that both families and gardens require the same things to thrive: time, patience, and a lot of love. In her spare time, you could often find her with her hands in the dirt, tending to her plants with the same quiet devotion she gave to her daughter and grandchildren.

She knew that beauty doesn’t just happen—it is planted, weeded, and cared for. Her garden was a reflection of her soul: vibrant, welcoming, and always blooming because she put in the work that no one else saw. Just as she cultivated her flowers, she cultivated us, ensuring we all had the roots we needed to stand tall.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy Stephenson; her daughter, Kim Maples; her grandchildren, Kristina Bogdanowicz, Kathryn Maples, and Kourtney Maples; and her great‑grandson, Troy Wilburn, Sister; Veta Melton, First niece; Kathy Sykes with extended nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred Bunch, Alice Ruth Bunch, her sisters, Edna Hayes, Frances Moore, and brother, Haywood Bunch, Kristina’s husband; Cody Bogdanowicz.

Visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612, US, on March 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612, US, on March 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
