

Mark Daniel Ritter passed away on April 2nd, 2025. He was 47 years old. Born on September 4, 1977, in Massachusetts, Mark lived a life defined by his professional dedication, love of sports, outdoor pursuits, passion for travel, and above all, his devotion to his family.
During his high school years, Mark achieved the impressive accomplishment of earning his private pilot's license, showcasing his early determination and skill. This love of aviation complemented his adventurous spirit and passion for travel throughout his life.
Mark was a highly accomplished cost accountant who built a successful career across multiple industries. His analytical mind and attention to detail made him an asset to every organization he served.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was passionate about NC State athletics. He could often be found tailgating and cheering enthusiastically at Wolfpack football and basketball games. In his leisure time, he enjoyed tennis, cooking, entertaining, and hunting, showcasing his diverse interests and his love for bringing people together. Mark also had a special affinity and love for dogs.
Above all else, Mark treasured his role as a father to his beloved daughter, Carly and his son, Jackson. He was also a cherished father figure to Dylan Chapman and Ruffin Chapman, the children of his partner Tonya Chapman, playing a significant role in their lives and forming bonds that transcended traditional family boundaries.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Carly; son, Jackson; his partner, Tonya Chapman and her children Dylan Chapman and Ruffin Chapman; his mother, Linda Godbold and husband John Godbold; his father, Tom Ritter and wife Kimberly Ritter; his brothers, Brian Ritter and wife Janet Ritter, and Kevin Ritter and wife Liz Ritter; and beloved nieces, Meghan, Lauren, Katie and Emily.
There will be no public service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mark's honor to The Life House Women's Shelter Inc., 314 N Wilson St, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
