Martha Jean Thomas Dixon, 89, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Brighton Gardens surrounded by her family and friends. She was a native of Greensboro until moving to Raleigh in 1951.
Martha was a longtime member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the Altar Guild and a member of the United Methodist Women. She worked several years at the NC General Assembly, as well as a volunteer at Rex Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Thomas and her husband of 67 years, John H. Dixon.
Surviving are her children, Dianne Dixon Piland (Reg) of Oriental, NC and Brenda Dixon Worley (Paul) of Bond, CO; by her grandchildren, Emily Piland Cook (Todd) of Burlingame, CA, Joanna Piland Price (Craig) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Chelsea Lee Worley of Steamboat Springs, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Jacks and Lindsay Ann Price.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Rd., Raleigh. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
The family would also like to offer their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Transitions LifeCare, Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, and the nurse caregivers of BAYADA Home Health Care for their care and kindness.
