Martha Stevens Goodwin

Martha was born in Wake County on January 19, 1923 the oldest child of the late Ernest and Bessie Nipper Stevens. She attended Ebenezer Community Church for the majority of her adult life and raised her children with a strong will and unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kermit, two sons: Jimmy and Ricky; her brother: Ernest Stevens, Jr. and sister: Alice Boney.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Phillip and wife Pat and Larry Don and wife Annette; daughter: Peggy and husband Warren Horton; six grandchildren: Angela, Molly, Melissa, Caroline, Christopher, and Paige; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters: Sara and Lessie and one brother, Charlie.

Visitation will be at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue) on Monday evening from 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
