Mary Beatrice Bailey

She was a registered nurse, retired in 1995 from Rex Hospital in Nursing Administration. She worked over 30 years as instructor in the Rex Hospital School of Nursing, as Hospital Supervisor and Director of Nursing Information Systems. Mary was long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh.

Born on December 24,1933 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the only daughter of the late Harry C. Bailey and Beatrice K. Bailey, she grew up in Crafton, Pa., graduating from Crafton High School. Mary attended P.C.W./Chatham College in Pittsburgh, graduating with a B.S. in Nursing Education and her nursing diploma from Allegheny General Hospital in 1956. She obtained her M.S.N. from Duke University in 1967. She was certified by the A.N.A. in Nursing Administration Advanced and served various offices in the N.C. Nurses Association. Mary was also a two- term member of the N.C. Board of Nursing.

Surviving is her brother, Charles C. Bailey of Berkeley Springs, WV, and by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Allen K. Bailey of La Mirada, CA, and Harry C. Bailey of Vandalia, OH.

A private memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church Chapel in Raleigh. Interment of ashes will be in the Christ Church Memorial Garden.
