Mary Elizabeth Grace Blackwood Bostrom, 97, of Raleigh, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Rex Hospital after a very brief illness. Mrs. Bostrom was born on May 17, 1915 in Clayton, NC to Tapley David Blackwood and Ella Mae Bradley Blackwood.
She was the youngest of 7 children, having 5 brothers and a sister. Her father called her Grace from the very beginning. She was small in stature but always had a big heart. She had lots of motherly wisdom and freely shared it with all who knew her. She was employed for many years at Sears in Cameron Village.
She is survived by her sons: Lars and Bob Bostrom of Raleigh, 6 grandchildren: Eddie, Creighton, Ginny, Cristy, Meg and Kyle; 5 great grandchildren: Ashlee, Will, Taric, Erin, and Devon. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bostrom, a son, Fred, and a grandchild, Kurt.
A service in celebration of her life will be held in Jones Chapel at Meredith College at 11:30 AM Saturday, August 25, 2012. The celebration of Grace’s Life will continue with a visitation and reception in the chapel immediately following the service.
The graveside service is private.
