Mary Helen Farmer, 96, passed away on Tuesday, August 14 at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. Born January 21, 1922 in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Theo and Octavia Easom of Spring Hope, N.C. She also was pre-deceased by her husband, Guy Farmer, in 2013.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family always came first to her. She and her husband were high school sweethearts and were married 69 years. Both were avid UNC fans, and treasured their memories of living at the now Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill in the 1940s. They also loved Raleigh, and lived in the same home for 55 years.
She was a long-time member of the Mary Martha Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Raleigh. Through the years, she also was a member of book, garden and bridge clubs. She cherished the lifelong friendships she made in all these groups.
Mrs. Farmer is survived by her daughter, Jane Paige and husband William of Cary; three grandchildren, Beth Kennedy and husband Taylor of Pittsboro, Laura Powell and husband Ben of Raleigh, and Bill Paige and wife Amanda of Fort Mill, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Kennedy, Charlotte Kennedy and Ella Insley.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brighton Gardens of Raleigh for their loving care of both Mr. and Mrs. Farmer for many years.
