Mary Parham Jackson, 75, passed away on May 23, 2018. Mary was born in Granville County, North Carolina to the late Russell Johnson Parham and Eliza Lewis Parham on October 28, 1942, and grew up in Henderson, North Carolina. She attended Saint Mary’s College and University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh. Mary will be remembered for her service to others in many capacities. She was a volunteer with Transitions LifeCare, she enjoyed knitting caps for newborns at Rex Hospital, and she lovingly supported underprivileged children on an international level. In her free time she enjoyed the beach, playing bridge, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Lawrence Jackson (Lorrie), Weldon Jackson Byrtus (Jimmy), and Russell Parham Jackson (Debbie); sister, Liza Parham Avery (David); grandchildren, Liza Byrtus and Waylan Jackson.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11 o’clock, at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 E. Edenton Street, Raleigh. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Christ Episcopal Church, Transitions LifeCare, Saint Mary’s School, or to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
