

She was born in Drayton Mills, South Carolina where she worked in the mill and met her husband, Edwin. They married and moved to Raleigh where he had accepted a position at N.C. State University. He was drafted and served during World War II and she traveled with him until he was called overseas. After the war, they lived in Raleigh where she was a homemaker. They moved to Carteret County in 2001 where they were members of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Ruth Kneece. She is survived by two brothers, Paul and Charles and daughters Jerri Oehler and husband Bill, Judi Price and husband Norm; 3 grandsons, Bill Woodard, Bill Brown and wife Janet, David Oehler and wife, Susan; great grandchildren, Lauren and Lindsey Powell, Mandolyn Rose Larsen-Brown and Dalton and Stockton Woodard.
Burial will take place in Raleigh, N.C. at Montlawn cemetery. A Memorial service is planned for May 11, 2013 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Morehead City.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Snug Harbor for their loving care for 4 years and the staff at Liberty Commons in Jacksonville for the last month.
